Background Image: The University of the Arts

The University of the Arts brings together visual artists, designers, actors, dancers, musicians, multimedia artists, filmmakers and more, and acts as a catalyst for their creativity. In a vibrant community at the heart of the nation's fifth-largest city, UArts students cross traditional boundaries to develop new ways of expression and influence in a world where creative thinkers are needed more than ever.

At the University of the Arts creativity overlaps and converges with numerous opportunities for collaboration among students. Whatever a student's area of interest, he or she will find other individuals sharing a passion for the creative process--and for making their marks on our society. The University's almost 2,100 students and 500 faculty members interact in a dynamic, innovative learning environment. UArts faculty members are working professionals who create an intense and interactive academic environment, and students benefit from their professors' extensive real-world experience. This synergy is a key to the University's success in helping aspiring artists, designers, performers and writers develop their creativity and find satisfying careers. Students also have opportunities for internships in a wide range of settings--advertising agencies, web development companies, TV and radio stations, theater and dance companies, galleries, private artist's studios, among many others.

Situated between New York City and Washington, D.C., Philadelphia is the nation's fifth-largest city and has a booming cultural community. UArts' location on the city's Avenue of the Arts provides students with a vibrant urban experience at the crossroads of culture and business. Philadelphia is home to four major film festivals, 75 art galleries, and 200,000 college students.
