We are pleased to announce AICAD is planning a Student Success Conference for June 14-16, 2017 at Pratt Institute that is designed to engage faculty, students and staff across functional areas to build upon, and strengthen, integrated communication and learning throughout AICAD.

The goal is to bring multiple staff groups together around a student success-focused convening – a topic that addresses concerns of various academic and administrative roles within AICAD member institutions throughout the pipeline of student engagement (from admissions to alumni status). As such, we would like to extend this invitation to AICAD members working in Admissions & Enrollment, Academic Affairs, Career Services (including CIAD members), Student Affairs, Alumni Affairs and Technology. We welcome staff in other roles and faculty to attend as well if there is interest.

ACCOMMODATIONS:

Hotel Room Block:

  • Brooklyn Bridge Marriott Hotel
  • Rate: $299 per night

On-Campus Housing at Pratt:

  • $50 per night (single occupancy) / $80 per night (double occupancy)
  • *On-campus housing is only available between June 13-16 due to another large event taking place on the Pratt campus through the weekend.
  • Linens not included. (Additional $15 linen fee)
  • Single and double rooms are arranged in suite styles with two rooms sharing a bathroom. You can request to share a suite with specific attendees.

CALL FOR PROPOSALS:

Do you have a collaborative program or method for building student development and engagement across divisions? How are you innovating to support students in, out, and after the classroom? We want to hear from you! Comprised of concurrent sessions 60 minutes in length, we invite proposals that delve into these questions and more.

We welcome AICAD members working in roles intersecting with student success, such as (but not limited to) Admissions & Enrollment, Academic Affairs, Career Services (including CIAD members), Student Affairs, Alumni Affairs and Technology and faculty members. We are also interested in innovative proposals that relate to student success but may not fit neatly into any one category we have listed.

Topics to consider:

  • Learning: Pedagogy, cognition and learning models
  • Best practices, initiatives, tools and technology
  • Helping students engage with and understand the political process
  • Increasing student engagement/ Impact of engagement in education
  • Predictive analytics
  • Integrating real-life skills and professional practice experiences in the art & design context
  • Learning management systems and other online collaboration and learning support tools
  • Tactics for making a seamless transition from student to alumnus
  • Diversity, inclusion and equity
  • Life after graduation
  • Mental health and well being
